Freedom From addiction

As another year winds down and we start to look to the next new year -- are there any addictions you would like to leave behind? At this time of the year in 1999 I was struggling to leave behind a twenty-five plus year addiction to nicotine. You can read about it in my latest article on the MN Bridging the Gap website. The Article is called Freedom from Addiction.

Perfect is Boring

I was reading along when I came to this sentence, "Perfect is boring." I loved it. The author was giving fashion advice. How refreshing.
She went on to say if you have crooked teeth, don't try to hide them. Smile. People will see your smile, not your crooked teeth.
Too often the world thinks when we say we're a Christian we're professing to be perfect. Ah, nothing could be farther from the truth.

Do you blog? Do you ever wonder if anyone is reading your posts?! Maybe you have a large audience who faithfully comment on your every post -- or, maybe like me, you find yourself wondering if anyone ever reads any of your posts.

I'd like to ask you to respond (if you are out there)!

Are you reading my blog?
Do you have a favorite post?
Do you have a least favorite post?

Conflict Resolution - Applying God's Word in the Workplace

Does anyone ever encounter conflict in the workplace?

Jesus said (John 16:33 NIV),  “… In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”

I will be talking to host Bradley Waldrop on Holy Profits Radio on Sat. Oct. 12, 10 -11 a.m. CST about conflict resolution and applying God’s Word in the Workplace.

I hope you will have a chance to listen to the program.

The Choice

Hi. Watch for information on my upcoming radio interview. 98.7 The Choice.

Walking in Faith Rides into the Workplace

Many of you may know that my husband Bill and I bought a Harley Davidson motorcycle two years ago. We love riding! Hold on to that thought for just a moment.

I joined Marketplace Chaplains USA a year ago as a workplace chaplain. This is also something that I love.

When it’s nice out Bill will give me a ride to the place where I do workplace ministry as a chaplain.

Walking in Faith now rides into the workplace.

Today is my anniversary

Today is my anniversary. I’ve officially been at Medtronic for ten years. I honestly never thought I’d see this day.

I feel like if I had a dollar for every time I wanted to quit the past ten years that I’d have a million dollars in my pocket.

I’m in a really great place at work with all kinds of great opportunities coming my way that I would have never had a chance to realize if I’d have quit even one of those seemingly million of times.

I stepped away from my desk

I stepped away from my desk. Took a walk to the other building. I thought I might check on my friend who had been going through a challenging time. On the way I ran into a colleague I hadn’t worked with for a long time.

She couldn’t keep the quiver from her voice or hide the tears that welled up as she told me how much more work she’d been given recently and how it had been affecting her.

I know the hug helped – even if only for a moment. People are having a hard time in the workplace. I told her we needed to start a support group there were so many people going through the same thing.

Saying a prayer for the workplace this Friday evening. Wishing everyone a restful weekend.

That's God

“What’s that all about?” my friend said. “ I couldn’t believe the timing of your text.”

While God had prompted me to pray for her on Monday, it wasn’t until Tuesday when God continued to put praying for her on my heart, that I sent her a text letting her know I was praying for her.

I didn’t know what she needed, but I didn’t need to. Deep in my spirit I had the sense that I should cover her in prayer. God knew her need. I thought she might be comforted to know someone was praying for her, and that’s why I let her know I was praying.

As it turns out, she was going through something at work, and did need prayer.

“That’s God,” was my reply when she commented on the timing. I told it wasn’t just a testimony of how real God is, but a testimony of how much He loved her.

Prayers in the workplace

http://mnbtg.org/resources/leadership-workplace/lunchtime-prayers

This one is for you, Kristi! Thanks for being such a great friend. I appreciate your amazing prayer support.

How's your workplace?

How's your workplace? Mine is challenging. My next story is going to be titled, "It's Only Work." Sure, it's important  . . . but in the scheme of things, my life outside of work is so much more important.

Called to the . . . workplace?

Yes, indeed, my call has been to the workplace. Perhaps your call has been as well.

The Busiest Girl in the Office

Walking in Faith: Stories of Hope and Encouragement, as you know, is my first book. Often people will ask me what my favorite story in the book is. It's this one, The Busiest Girl in the Office.
http://mnbtg.org/resources/leadership-workplace/busiest-girl-office

Have you ever been the Busiest Girl? I have. It doesn't make me feel great to share that with you; but, if we honestly can admit these things God can use them to change us!

My articles post on Bridging the GAP -- A site for real women, real life, and real truth.
